Herb Batter Bread

  1. Combine 1 1/2 cups of the flour, the yeast and fines herbes. Heat together the water, butter or margarine, sugar and salt just until warm (115u0b0 to 120u0b0), stirring until butter almost melts. Add to yeast mixture.
  2. Beat at low speed of electric mixer for 1/2 minute, scraping bowl constantly.
  3. Beat 3 minutes at high speed. Stir in remaining flour.
  4. Cover; let rise until double.
  5. Stir down dough.
  6. Spread evenly in greased 9 x 5 x 3-inch loaf pan.
  7. Cover; let rise until double.
  8. Bake in a 375u0b0 oven for 35 to 40 minutes. Remove from pan; cool on wire rack.
  9. Makes 1 loaf.
