Oatmeal Cookies
- 1 c. sugar
- 3/4 c. shortening or margarine
- 2 eggs
- 5 Tbsp. milk
- 2 c. all-purpose enriched flour
- 2 c. rolled oats
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. ground cinnamon
- 1 tsp. ground cloves
- 1 c. raisins
- 1/2 c. chopped nut meats
- Measure shortening or margarine while cold.
- Put in mixing bowl to soften at room temperature.
- While softening, grease cookie sheet lightly.
- Sift flour and measure.
- To the flour add soda, salt, cinnamon, cloves and raisins.
- If raisins are sticking together, separate them and dust with flour before adding to flour mixture.
- Stir well with batter beater.
- Set oven at 350u0b0.
- By now shortening is ready.
- Add sugar and cream well.
- Add eggs and beat well.
- Measure milk and add after eggs.
- Beat well.
- Measure oats and add with flour mixture to the creamed shortening mixture, a small amount at a time.
- Mix well.
