Spicy Peanut Butter Bacon Cheeseburgers
- 1 pound ground turkey
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 jalapeno, seeded and finely chopped
- 1/3 cup creamy peanut butter
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
- 4 strips turkey bacon
- 4 slices cheddar cheese
- 4 buns (pretzel or regular)
- 4 lettuce leaves (optional)
- 4 slices tomato (optional)
- 1. In a large bowl, mix together the ground turkey, salt, chopped jalapeno, and peanut butter. Once combined, separate into 4 equal portions. Form each portion into a patty about 3/4-1 inch thick, and press an indentation into the center of each with your fingers (this will help the burger keep its shape as it cooks).
- 2. Heat the vegetable oil in a skillet over medium heat for 2-3 minutes. Place the patties in the skillet and cook for 3-4 minutes on each side. While the patties are cooking, in a separate pan, cook the bacon according to the directions on the package.
- 3. Reduce the heat on the patties to low. Flip the patties back over to the original side, top with cheese, cover the skillet with a lid, and cook for an additional 3 minutes.
- 4. Place the patties in the buns, top with bacon, lettuce, and tomato slices (if desired).
