Hot Spicy Pepper Steak
- 2 lb. tenderized beef round steak, cut into 1 1/2 x 1/4-inch strips
- 3 Tbsp. soy sauce
- 1 tsp. Worcestershire
- 3/4 tsp. ginger
- 1 1/2 Tbsp. cornstarch
- 2 c. cooked rice
- 3/4 c. picante sauce (medium)
- 4 Tbsp. vegetable oil
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1 medium red or green pepper
- 1 c. sliced fresh mushrooms
- 6 green onions, diced
- 3/4 c. water
- Combine soy sauce, Worcestershire, ginger, cornstarch and picante sauce in small bowl and set aside.
- Over high heat in large skillet or wok, heat 2 tablespoons of oil until hot, but not smoking.
- Add meat and stir-fry 2 to 3 minutes.
- Drain and set aside.
- Heat remaining 2 tablespoons oil in skillet.
- Add garlic, peppers, mushrooms and onions.
- Stir-fry 3 minutes.
- Return meat to skillet.
- Stir in picante sauce mixture.
- Add water.
- Cook and stir about 1 minute or until sauce thickens.
- Serve over hot rice.
