Pfeffernuesse
- 1/2 c. soft butter or margarine
- 1/4 tsp. anise flavoring
- 1/4 c. granulated sugar
- 1/2 c. brown sugar
- 1 egg, slightly beaten
- 1 3/4 c. all-purpose flour
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. ground cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp. ground cloves
- 1/2 tsp. allspice
- 1/4 tsp. cardamon
- 1/4 tsp. black pepper
- 1 c. chopped almonds
- 1/2 c. chopped citron
- powdered sugar
- Cream the butter, anise flavoring and sugars.
- Blend in egg. Add flour, salt and spices.
- Blend thoroughly.
- Stir in chopped almonds and citron.
- Chill in refrigerator a few hours.
- Shape dough into 1-inch balls using about a teaspoon of dough for each. Place on ungreased cookie sheet and bake in a 350u0b0 oven for about 10 minutes.
- Remove from oven and cool a few minutes.
- Roll in powdered sugar.
