Wine Poached Pears

  1. Peel the pears but leave the stem, cut a thin slice from the bottom of each pear to make them stand better. Pour wine and orange juice into a pot, add sugar, orange zest and spices. Simmer at low heat until sugar dissolves.
  2. Carefully place the pears into the pot, bring to boil, reduce the heat and simmer with closed lid for 30 to 40 minutes. To make sure the pears are well-soaked, leave them to cool in the liquid.
  3. Take the pears out, and boil the liquid until it turns syrupy. Pour the syrup over the pears and serve with a scoop of ice cream or mascarpone.
  4. And surely we cannot fail to mention a serving platter for the ready dish. WILMAX suggests you use a triangular WL-996103 plate to serve this wonderful dessert. Bon appetit!
