Popcorn Balls

  1. Measure
  2. popped
  3. corn
  4. into
  5. buttered bowl (4 quarts or larger).
  6. Combine
  7. together
  8. in heavy 1 1/2-quart saucepan the sugar,

  11. syrup, salt and vinegar.
  12. Stir over heat until

  15. Cover, bring to boil and let boil briskly
  16. for 3 minutes.
  17. Uncover, insert candy thermometer and cook
  18. mixture to hard ball stage, 260u0b0.
  19. (I cook it until when you drip

  21. little in a cup of ice water, it stays in a very hard ball.)
  22. Remove
  23. from heat.
  24. Stir in vanilla and coloring (if wanted).
  25. Pour
  26. slowly
  27. over popped corn, stirring with a large buttered
  28. spoon
  29. to
  30. coat all corn.
  31. Form into balls at once with buttered hands, handle gently to avoid packing.
