Savory Sausage Coffee Cake
- 1 c. chopped onions
- 1 lb. bulk sausage
- 1/3 c. Parmesan cheese
- 3/4 c. grated Swiss cheese
- 1 egg, lightly beaten
- 6 drops Tabasco sauce
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1/4 c. chopped fresh parsley
- 2 c. biscuit mix
- 3/4 c. milk
- 1/4 c. mayonnaise
- 1 egg yolk
- 1 Tbsp. water
- Saute onions and sausage until brown and crumbly.
- Drain fat off.
- Add cheeses, egg, Tabasco sauce, salt and parsley.
- Combine the biscuit mix, milk and mayonnaise.
- Place half of biscuit batter in greased 9 x 9 x 2-inch pan.
- Pour sausage mixture over batter.
- Mix egg yolk with water; brush on top.
- Bake at 400u0b0 for approximately 30 minutes.
- Cool 5 to 8 minutes before cutting. Serves 6 for breakfast or brunch.
