Fudge Like Grandma Never Thought About

  1. Combine sugar, sour cream, milk, oleo, Karo and salt in heavy saucepan.
  2. Stir over moderate heat until sugar is dissolved and mixture comes to a boil.
  3. Cook to soft ball stage (9 to 10 minutes at 238u0b0).
  4. Remove from heat; allow to cool to 110u0b0, approximately 1 hour.
  5. Add vanilla; beat until it begins to lose its gloss.
  6. Add pecans and cherries (if used).
  7. Pour into oiled dish.
  8. When firm, cut into squares.
  9. Store in closed container.
  10. Keeps 3 to 4 weeks in refrigerator.
