My Own Crab Soup
- 4 slices raw bacon
- 1 medium chopped onion
- 2 c. boiling water
- 1 qt. tomatoes or 1 lb. can
- 1 1/2 c. diced potatoes
- 1/2 c. chopped celery
- 1/2 c. catsup
- 2 Tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
- 2 tsp. seasoned salt
- 2 to 3 tsp. seasoned pepper
- 1 1/2 tsp. ground thyme
- 2 Tbsp. Old Bay seasoning
- 1 1/2 lb. frozen mixed vegetables
- 1 lb. crab meat
- 1 1/2 to 2 qt. water (as needed)
- 2 drops hot sauce
- salt to taste
- Cut up bacon slices and simmer with onion in a large Dutch oven.
- When bacon is brown and onions golden, add boiling water and tomatoes, cut up.
- Boil for 5 minutes.
- Add remaining ingredients and simmer for 1 hour or more.
- If necessary, skim top.
