Beef Stew
- 1/2 c. textured vegetable protein
- 1/2 c. water
- 2 Tbsp. Carmel soup mix ("beef" style)
- 2 cloves garlic, crushed
- 2 Tbsp. vegetable oil
- 2 Tbsp. flour
- 6 c. water
- 3 onions, quartered
- 4 potatoes, peeled (optional)
- 3 carrots, cut in 1-inch
- 1 tsp. Season-All
- several drops of brown gravy (optional)
- In a small pot, bring water to boil and add "beef" and soup. Reduce heat to simmer and cook until all water is absorbed.
- In a large pot, heat oil and simmer garlic until it starts to brown. Add flour and stir until flour is medium brown.
- Add water slowly, stirring or whisking continuously, until smooth.
- Add quartered onion, large chunk potatoes, 1-inch length carrots, seasoning and gravy (optional).
- Simmer, stirring occasionally, until vegetables are tender.
- Takes about 30 minutes.
- Serves 6.
