Apple Nut Pie

  1. Peel apples and cut into eighths.
  2. In saucepan, mix sugar, cinnamon and water.
  3. Add apples.
  4. Toss lightly to coat with sugar mixture.
  5. Place over medium heat and cook until slices are half done, about 10 minutes.
  6. Arrange apples in greased 9-inch deep dish pie pan and pour syrup over them.
  7. Cream butter with brown sugar. Sift flour, salt and baking powder together.
  8. Work in creamed mixture with wooden spoon, them mix in nuts.
  9. Sprinkle over apples in pan to cover top.
  10. Bake at 350u0b0 for 35 to 40 minutes or until top is a delicate brown.
  11. Serve warm with whipped cream or plain.
