Apple Nut Pie
- 6 medium apples
- 1/2 c. sugar
- 1 tsp. cinnamon
- 1 c. water
- 1/2 c. chopped pecans
- 6 Tbsp. butter
- 1/2 c. packed brown sugar
- 1 c. sifted flour
- 1 tsp. baking powder
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- Peel apples and cut into eighths.
- In saucepan, mix sugar, cinnamon and water.
- Add apples.
- Toss lightly to coat with sugar mixture.
- Place over medium heat and cook until slices are half done, about 10 minutes.
- Arrange apples in greased 9-inch deep dish pie pan and pour syrup over them.
- Cream butter with brown sugar. Sift flour, salt and baking powder together.
- Work in creamed mixture with wooden spoon, them mix in nuts.
- Sprinkle over apples in pan to cover top.
- Bake at 350u0b0 for 35 to 40 minutes or until top is a delicate brown.
- Serve warm with whipped cream or plain.
