Savory Baked Spaghetti(Serves 6)
- 3 Tbsp. oil
- 2 coarsely chopped onions
- 1 clove garlic, chopped (optional)
- 1/2 lb. hamburg
- 1 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/8 tsp. pepper
- 1 large can tomatoes (3 1/2 c.)
- 1 tsp. chili powder
- 1 c. water
- 1/2 lb. spaghetti
- 1 c. grated cheese
- Slowly cook onions and garlic in oil 5 minutes.
- Add hamburg; cook, stirring occasionally, until meat loses red color.
- Stir in salt, pepper and tomatoes (put tomatoes through sieve or squash with hands.)
- Simmer covered 30 minutes.
- Add chili powder and water.
- Start oven to 325u0b0.
- Break half of uncooked spaghetti in greased casserole.
- Pour half of sauce over spaghetti.
- Sprinkle with half of cheese.
- Break in rest of spaghetti; add rest of sauce and sprinkle with remainder of cheese.
- Bake covered 35 minutes.
- Uncover; bake 15 minutes longer or until brown.
