Banana Pakoras
- Batter
- 1 cup Fine chickpea flour/besan
- 1 teaspoon Red chili powder
- 1 teaspoon Turmeric powder
- 2 tablespoons Rice flour or corn starch
- Salt to taste
- Oil to deep fry
- 1 teaspoon Soda bicarbonate
- Semi ripe bananas
- Bunch of Bananas
- To make the batter, mix all the dry ingredients in a bowl and add some water and make a batter out of it. The batter should not too thick or too thin. You want to able to dip banana slices and the batter to hold up. If you add too much water you can always add some more fliur and seasonings.
- Slice bananas into circles. Meanwhile keep some oil to heat up to deep fry these. Once the oil is hot almost 325-350 degrees, start dipping the banana slices in the chicpea batter and drop them gently in oil and fry them until they look light brown. Take them out on tissue paper. You can serve them piping hot . They taste best when served immediately. They taste savory from the batter but because the banas are sweet they would also lend sweetness. You will not find these in any resturants.
