Tamale Pie
- 1 lb. ground round or hamburger
- 2 onions, chopped fine
- 1 green bell pepper, chopped
- 1 (15 oz.) can tomato sauce
- 1 (6 oz.) can tomato paste
- 3/4 c. cornmeal
- 1 c. milk
- 1 egg, beaten
- 1 (12 oz.) can corn niblets
- 1 large can pitted black olives
- 1 lb. grated Cheddar cheese
- 1 clove garlic, crushed
- 1 tsp. salt
- 2 tsp. chili powder
- dash of cumin
- dash of oregano
- Brown meat; drain.
- Add onions and pepper; cook until tender. Add tomato sauce and paste; stir.
- Mix cornmeal, milk, egg, corn, olives, cheese, garlic, salt, chili powder, cumin and oregano and stir into meat and sauce mixture; stir well.
- Pour into a 3-quart casserole and bake at 350u0b0 for 35 minutes.
- Serves 8 to 10.
