Chicken Casserole Bake
- 8 oz. medium noodles (about 6 c.)
- 1/2 c. butter or margarine
- 3 1/2 c. milk
- 1/2 c. all-purpose flour
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/8 tsp. white pepper
- 2 (10 3/4 oz.) cans chicken gravy (2 1/2 c.)
- 4 c. diced cooked chicken
- 2 Tbsp. pimento, chopped
- 1/2 c. fine dry bread crumbs
- 1 1/2 Tbsp. melted butter
- 2 oz. processed American cheese
- Cook noodles according to package directions.
- Add 2 tablespoons butter or margarine and 1/2 cup milk.
- In kettle, melt remaining 6 tablespoons butter.
- Blend in flour, salt and pepper. Add remaining 3 cups of milk.
- Cook and stir until mixture thickens and bubbles.
- Stir in chicken gravy, chicken, pimento and noodles. Spread in a 9 x 13-inch baking dish.
- Bake covered at 350u0b0 for 25 minutes.
- Combine bread crumbs and 1 1/2 tablespoons melted butter; blend in processed American cheese.
- Sprinkle edges of casserole. Bake for 10 minutes more.
- Serves 12 to 15.
