Prawn Pea Masala
- 2 tablespoons canola or vegetable oil
- 1 garlic clove, sliced
- 1 tablespoon mustard seeds
- 1/2 sprig curry leaves, fresh or dried
- 1 tablespoon turmeric powder
- 1 cup frozen peas
- 1 tablespoon white wine
- 1/4 lemon
- salt to taste
- Peel and devein the prawns. Wash thoroughly and toss them in 1 tbsp of white wine and season with a pinch of salt.
- Heat cooking oil in a frying pan and saute garlic until lightly brown. Add mustard seeds, cumin seeds and curry leaves and saute until pungent.
- Stir in frozen peas and saute for 2 to 3 minutes. Add prawns and turmeric and saute until the prawns turn pink. Add water and cook for a few minutes. Add some more water if necessary. Squeeze a lemon and season with salt. Serve with Japanese or basmati rice.
