Italian Style Swiss Steak(Makes 4 Servings)

  1. Preheat broiler.
  2. Broil beef on rack 4-inches from heat 2 minutes on each side.
  3. Set aside.
  4. In large nonstick skillet, heat oil.
  5. Add mushrooms, onions, carrot and celery; cook over medium heat until onions are translucent, about 2 minutes.
  6. Stir in tomato sauce, wine, oregano, garlic powder, pepper, salt and 1 cup water.
  7. Return meat to skillet.
  8. Cover and simmer over low heat 1 hour.
  9. Add green pepper and potatoes.
  10. Simmer until meat is tender, about 35 minutes.
