Luscious Apple Rolls
- 2 c. sugar
- 2 c. water
- 1/4 tsp. cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp. nutmeg
- 2 Tbsp. light margarine
- 2 c. all-purpose flour
- 2 tsp. baking powder
- 1 tsp. lite salt
- 2/3 c. light margarine
- 1/2 c. diluted skimmed evaporated milk
- 2 1/2 c. shredded apples (about 3 medium)
- Combine first 4 ingredients in a saucepan.
- Stir well.
- Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly until sugar dissolves.
- Stir in 2 tablespoons margarine; set aside.
- Combine flour, baking powder and salt.
- Cut 2/3 cup margarine into flour mixture with fork or pastry blender until it resembles coarse meal.
- Add milk, stirring just until dry ingredients are moistened.
- Turn dough out onto a lightly floured surface.
- Knead lightly 4 to 5 times.
