Meatballs In Sweet N Sour Sauce
- 1 (13 1/2 oz.) can pineapple tidbits, drained (save syrup)
- 1/3 c. chopped green pepper
- 1 1/2 lb. hamburg
- 2/3 c. cracker crumbs
- 1/3 c. minced onion
- 1 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/4 tsp. ginger
- 1/4 c. milk
- 1 Tbsp. shortening
- 2 Tbsp. cornstarch
- 1/2 c. brown sugar, packed
- 1/3 c. vinegar
- 1 Tbsp. soy sauce
- Mix hamburg, crackers, onion, egg, salt, ginger and milk.
- Make meatballs.
- Melt shortening and cook meatballs, then remove.
- Keep warm.
- Mix cornstarch and sugar.
- Stir in pineapple syrup, vinegar and soy sauce until smooth, then pour into skillet.
- Cook over medium heat until mixture thickens and boils.
- Boil and stir 1 minute.
- Add meatballs, pineapple and peppers.
- Heat through.
