Heringssalat Rheinischer Art(Rhineland Herring Salad)

• 1 jar pickled herring, drained
• 1/2 c. diced cooked or canned beets
• 1 large apple, cored and diced
• 2 medium potatoes, cooked and diced
• 1 small onion, minced
• 1/2 c. chopped walnuts
• 1/2 c. sour cream
• 1/2 c. mayonnaise
• 1 tsp. sugar or to taste
• 1 hard-cooked egg, sliced
• 6 to 8 small canned whole beets, drained
• 1 Tbsp. minced parsley or dill (optional)

1. A line shack on the mountain.
2. I cooked a Betty Crocker apple pie mix.
3. As I took it from the oven, it ended upside down on the hard dirt floor.
4. Harvey Robinson was there, he dearly loved pie. He looked at that pie on the floor and said, "I could just cry!" He and my nephew Preston Brunst got forks and sat down on the hard dirt floor and proceeded to eat what they could of the pie before getting to the dirt.
