Melissa'S Favorite Birthday Cake

  1. Toast almonds until lightly browned, set aside.
  2. Mix remaining ingredients, except chocolate chips, until well blended.
  3. Add chips.
  4. Grease and flour 2 (8 to 9-inch) cake pans, dividing almonds between the 2 pans.
  5. Spread batter over almonds.
  6. (It will be thick.)
  7. Bake at 350u0b0 for at least 35 minutes.
  8. I have had it take 45 to 50 minutes to fully bake.
  9. Spread fudge frosting between the 2 layers and top with whipped cream.
  10. It is so good!! If you need a chocolate "fix" this will do it.
