M.N.'S Favorite Soup

  1. In large kettle, saute bacon until browned; drain fat.
  2. Add sausage, onion, carrot and celery.
  3. Saute until onion is tender. Add water, tomatoes and beans.
  4. Bring to a boil.
  5. Reduce heat, cover and simmer 45 minutes until beans are almost tender.
  6. Stir in remaining ingredients.
  7. Simmer, covered until done.
  8. Discard bay leaf.
