Grandma'S Famous Gingerbread

  1. Cream butter; gradually add sugar, beating at medium speed of an electric mixer.
  2. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  3. Combine buttermilk and soda; add to sugar mixture, mixing well.
  4. Sift flour and ginger together.
  5. Add flour mixture to sugar mixture, mixing well.
  6. Pour batter into a greased and floured 13 x 9 x 2-inch baking pan.
  7. Bake at 350u0b0 for 45 minutes or until a wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean.
  8. If desired, serve
  9. gingerbread dusted with powdered sugar or topped with a dollop of whipped cream.
