Aunt Dosha'S Dinner Rolls
- 4 Tbsp. shortening
- 1/2 c. sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1 c. sweet milk
- 2 pkg. dry yeast
- 5 c. plain flour
- 2 tsp. salt
- Mix shortening and sugar with salt.
- Scald milk; pour over sugar mixture.
- Let mixture cool.
- Mix yeast with approximately 1/4 cup warm water; pour over same mixture.
- Mix in the eggs.
- Add 2 cups of the flour; beat well.
- Add the rest of flour; knead the dough on a lightly floured surface.
- Put dough in a heavy crock-type bowl; let rise until double in bulk.
- Punch down; roll dough out.
- Cut with biscuit cutter.
- Melt 1 stick of butter; dip each piece of dough in the melted butter.
- Place on baking sheet; let rise again.
- Bake in a 350u0b0 oven until brown.
- Yields approximately 2 dozen rolls.
- When letting dough rise, cover with damp tea towel.
