Texas Chili Beef Slices(Makes 6 To 8 Servings)
- 2 lb. top round steak, cut 2 inches thick
- instant meat tenderizer
- 1/2 c. chopped onion or 2 Tbsp. instant minced onions
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/4 c. oil
- 3 Tbsp. vinegar
- 3 Tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
- 1 Tbsp. chili powder
- 2 (8 oz.) cans tomato sauce
- 1/4 c. firmly packed brown sugar
- 1 tsp. ground mustard
- 2 Tbsp. lemon juice
- 1/2 tsp. liquid smoke
- dash of hot pepper sauce
- 6 to 8 small rolls
- Sprinkle meat with tenderizer according to package directions. In small bowl, make marinade by combining onion, garlic, oil, vinegar, Worcestershire sauce and chili powder.
- Place steak in shallow baking dish.
- Pour marinade over meat; store in refrigerator overnight or at least 3 hours.
- Remove steak from marinade.
