Apple Fritters
- 2 egg yolks
- 2 tsp. sugar
- 1/4 c. stale beer
- 1 Tbsp. cream or milk
- 3 Tbsp. flour
- pinch of salt
- 1/2 qt. peanut oil
- 3 apples (Pippin, Jonathan or McIntosh)
- 2 egg whites
- Beat egg yolkstnd
- sugar
- together
- for 1 minute with wire whisk.
- Add
- beer;tlowlytdd
- sifted
- flour, cream and salt. Let stand 1
- to
- 2tours in a warm place.teat peanut oil to 350u0b0.
- Slice
- apples
- into 1/2 inch thick wedges.
- Beat egg whites to form soft peaks.
- Gently fold 1/4 of whites into egg
- yolk mixture.
- Add
- the rest of the whites and fold into mixture.
- With tongs,
- gently dip sliced apples into mixture. One
- by
- one place
- in
- hot
- oil.
- Cook 1 to 3 minutes, until golden brown. Serve immediately with vanilla ice cream.
