Cheese Filled Pastry Slices
- 16 oz. cream cheese, softened
- 3/4 c. sugar
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 1 tsp. lemon juice
- 1 egg, separated
- 2 (8 oz.) pkg. crescent roll dough
- confectioners sugar
- In medium bowl, combine cream cheese, sugar, vanilla, juice and egg yolk.
- Mix until smooth.
- With rolling pin, flatten 1 package of rolls, pinching to close any seams.
- Cover bottom of greased 9 x 13-inch baking dish with rolled pastry.
- Pour in cream cheese mixture and smooth over crust.
- Roll out remaining dough, fold into fourths and lift and unfold over cheese mixture.
- Beat egg white until frothy.
- Spread over top crust.
- Bake in preheated 350u0b0 oven for 30 minutes or until golden brown.
- Cover loosely with aluminum foil if it browns too quickly.
- Remove when done and cool. Sprinkle with sugar; cut in slices or squares.
