Italian Pork Chops
- 2 Tbsp. shortening
- 6 loin pork chops
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 1/4 c. green pepper, chopped
- 2 (8 oz.) cans tomato sauce
- 1 c. water
- 1 tsp. sugar
- 1 tsp. oregano
- 1/4 tsp. garlic salt
- salt and pepper to taste
- 5 medium potatoes, quartered
- grated Romano cheese
- Melt shortening in large skillet.
- Add pork chops and brown quickly on both sides.
- Remove chops and drain all but 2 tablespoons fat.
- Cook onion and green pepper until soft.
- Ad tomato sauce, water, sugar and seasonings.
- Heat to boiling and cook for 5 minutes.
- Arrange potatoes in 9 x 13-inch baking dish. Place pork chops on top of potatoes and pour sauce over all. Cover casserole with lid or foil and bake at 350u0b0 for 1 hour. Remove cover and sprinkle with cheese.
- Bake 15 minutes more.
