Italian Pork Chops

  1. Melt shortening in large skillet.
  2. Add pork chops and brown quickly on both sides.
  3. Remove chops and drain all but 2 tablespoons fat.
  4. Cook onion and green pepper until soft.
  5. Ad tomato sauce, water, sugar and seasonings.
  6. Heat to boiling and cook for 5 minutes.
  7. Arrange potatoes in 9 x 13-inch baking dish. Place pork chops on top of potatoes and pour sauce over all. Cover casserole with lid or foil and bake at 350u0b0 for 1 hour. Remove cover and sprinkle with cheese.
  8. Bake 15 minutes more.
