Strawberry Cream Layered Salad
- 1 (3 oz.) pkg. strawberry flavored gelatin
- 1/2 c. boiling water
- 2 medium size bananas
- 1 (10 oz.) pkg. frozen, sweetened strawberries, thawed
- 1 (8 oz.) can crushed pineapple, well drained
- 1 c. coarsely chopped walnuts
- 1 c. sour cream
- Dissolve gelatin in boiling water.
- Mash bananas and combine with thawed strawberries and their juice, pineapple and nuts.
- Add gelatin mixture.
- Pour half the mixture into an 8-inch square baking dish; cover and chill until firm (about 1 1/2 hours). Cover remaining gelatin mixture and let stand at room temperature. When refrigerated portion is firm, spread evenly with sour cream. Spoon remaining gelatin mixture evenly over cream layer.
- Cover and chill until firm (at least 4 hours).
- May be cut into squares and served on lettuce or made in a pretty clear bowl and passed.
