Baked Macaroni And Cheese
- 4 c. water
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 1/2 c. elbow macaroni (uncooked)
- 2 c. sharp natural Cheddar cheese, shredded
- 2 c. processed Cheddar cheese, shredded
- 2 eggs, beaten
- 2 c. milk
- 1 tsp. onion, finely chopped
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/4 tsp. white pepper
- 1/4 c. corn flake crumbs
- Preheat oven to 350u0b0 (moderate). Grease a 1 1/2-quart casserole. Bring salted water to a boil. Add macaroni and cook, uncovered, 10 minutes, stirring occasionally. Drain. Cover bottom of casserole with half the macaroni.
- Combine cheese; sprinkle half the mixture over macaroni in casserole. Repeat layers. Combine beaten eggs with milk, onion and seasonings. Pour over macaroni and cheese. Sprinkle top with corn flake crumbs. Set casserole in a pan of hot water. Bake 45 minutes to 1 hour or until brown and almost set in center.
