Red Velvet Cake
- 1/2 c. corn oil
- 1 1/2 c. sugar (white granulated)
- 4 eggs
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 1 tsp. butter flavoring
- 1 1/2 oz. red food color
- 3 Tbsp. cocoa
- 2 1/2 c. flour
- 1 c. buttermilk
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 Tbsp. white vinegar
- 1 tsp. baking soda
- Cream oil, sugar and eggs; add flavors to make a paste with cocoa and food coloring.
- Mix well.
- Alternatively add flour (with salt) and buttermilk.
- Mix soda and vinegar in small bowl, then add to batter.
- Blend well.
- Pour in three 9-inch or 10-inch pans.
- Bake for 20 to 25 minutes at 350u0b0.
- When toothpick comes clean from cake it's done but don't overcook.
- Let cool completely.
- Ice with butter frosting or French vanilla!
- Yum! Yum!
