Easy Cheesy Surprises
- 1 stick margarine
- 1 c. flour (I use a little more than this, for a stiffer dough)
- 1 jar Kraft Old English cheese spread
- extras: pecans, stuffed olives, Little Smokies, whatever
- Leave margarine and cheese spread at room temperature until softened, then mix with flour.
- Refrigerate the dough to make it easier to work with.
- While it is chilling, prepare the "middles." I use stuffed olives (cut in half and blotted dry), Little Smokie sausages (cut in thirds or fourths), pecan halves, sometimes cocktail onions, whatever you like.
- Wrap a spoonful of the dough around each surprise and roll into a ball.
- At this stage, they keep very well in the refrigeartor between layers of waxed paper. When ready to bake, put them on a cookie sheet and bake about 15 minutes at 350u0b0; they will be slightly brown on the bottom.
- They can be baked ahead of time, and warmed up in the microwave.
- These are especially good for teen-age parties; young people love guessing which surprise is inside each one.
- Each recipe yields about 3 dozen.
