Best Ever Jam Cake

  1. Cream sugar and shortening; add eggs, one at a time.
  2. Mix well.
  3. Measure spices and salt and add to flour; set aside.
  4. Put soda in buttermilk and add alternately with the flour mixture to the egg mixture, mixing well.
  5. Add vanilla.
  6. Slowly add the preserves, applesauce, raisins and nuts; blend well.
  7. Pour into three greased nine-inch pans.
  8. Bake at 350u0b0 for 30 minutes.
  9. Frost with Caramel Frosting.
