Lady Baltimore Cake

  1. Sift
  2. flour,
  3. baking
  4. powder
  5. and
  6. salt 3 times.
  7. Cream butter until
  8. light and fluffy.
  9. Add vanilla.
  10. Add 1 1/2 cups sugar gradually and cream until like whipped cream.
  11. Add flour and
  12. milk alternately
  13. in
  14. small amounts.
  15. Begin and end with flour.
  16. Mix after each addition.
  17. Beat egg whites until stiff, gradually adding 1/2 cup sugar.
  18. Beat until glossy.
  19. Fold egg whites into batter and mix thoroughly.turn into 3 (8-inch or 9-inch)tayer pans.
  20. Bake
  21. at 350u0b0 to 375u0b0 for about 25 minutes.tool in the pans.
  22. Turn out and frost.
