Old Fashion Egg Custard
- 4 eggs (whites of 3 for meringue)
- 2/3 c. sugar plus 6 Tbsp. for meringue
- 2 Tbsp. flour
- 1 Tbsp. oleo
- 1 tsp. cornstarch
- 2 c. milk, scalded
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 1 uncooked pie shell
- Beat 3 egg yolks and 1 whole egg only slightly.
- Add 2/3 cup sugar, flour and cornstarch which has been sifted together. Stir only to mix.
- Add
- hot
- milk
- gradually; add flavoring and butter. Pour into uncooked shell
- and
- bake 30 minutes at 350u0b0. Do not preheat oven.
- Do
- not overcook. Cook only until filling is firm. Beat egg whites
- until firm.
- Add 6 tablespoons sugar gradually and beat well.
- Add
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla and pile on pie.
- Bake 15 minutes in
- 350u0b0
- oven.
- Cool
- completely
- before cutting.
