Orange Cake

  1. In a bowl, mix together 1/2 cup sugar and juice from orange. Set aside.
  2. Reserve orange rind.
  3. In second bowl, cream together 1 cup sugar, salt and shortening. Add eggs and vanilla. Stir. Add sour milk (or 1 tablespoon vinegar in sweet milk).
  4. Sift in flour and baking soda.
  5. Grind together orange rind and raisins.
  6. Mix into batter.
  7. Bake in a preheated 350u0b0 oven for 30 minutes. Remove from oven.
  8. Punch many holes with a toothpick all over the top of the cake. Spoon sugar and juice mixture over top. Serve with whipped topping or as is.
