Island Sweet And Sour Meatballs
- 1 egg, beaten
- 2 Tbsp. milk
- 2 Tbsp. chopped onions
- 1 c. soft bread crumbs
- 2 Tbsp. shortening
- 1 Tbsp. cornstarch
- 1/2 c. green pepper strips
- 1/2 c. bottled barbecue sauce
- 1 lb. ground beef-textured vegetable protein mixture
- 1 (8 1/4 oz.) can pineapple tidbits
- 1 (8 oz.) can whole cranberry sauce
- 3/4 tsp. salt
- hot cooked rice
- Mix egg, crumbs, onion, milk and salt.
- Add meat.
- Shape into 1-inch balls.
- Place meatballs with shortening in skillet.
- Bake at 450u0b0 in oven to brown.
- On top of stove, in same skillet, drain off fat.
- Drain pineapple, reserving syrup.
- Set pineapple aside.
- Add water to syrup to make 3/4 cup.
