Black Bottom Pie

  1. Soak gelatin in cold water.
  2. Scald milk.
  3. Combine sugar and cornstarch.
  4. Beat egg
  5. yolks
  6. until
  7. light.
  8. Stir
  9. scalded milk into egg yolks.
  10. Using a whisk, slowly add sugar mixture. Cook in double boiler,
  11. stirring
  12. until
  13. mixture heavily coats spoon, approximately 20 minutes.
  14. Remove 1 cup custard and add melted chocolate.
  15. Add vanilla.
  16. Pour into pie crust.
