Poor Man'S Goulash

  1. Fry onions in the oil until they start to brown.
  2. Add the sausage, potatoes, tomato puree (if used), and paprika and fry for about two minutes.
  3. Add the water, laurel, salt, and pepper - stir.
  4. Bring to a boil, cover, and simmer for about 45 minutes.
  5. Before serving add the pickled cucumbers and the garlic.
  6. Serve with crispy white roll or baguette.
  7. Remember: this dish gets better by the day. So make enough to keep some and re-heat it in a day or two.
