Green Bean Casserole
- 3 (10 oz.) pkg. frozen green beans
- 1 lb. mushrooms, sliced
- 1/2 c. butter or margarine
- 1/4 c. flour
- 2 c. milk
- 1 c. light cream
- 3/4 lb. sharp cheese
- 1/8 tsp. Tabasco sauce
- 2 tsp. soy sauce
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1/2 tsp. black pepper
- 1 tsp. monosodium glutamate
- 15 oz. can water chestnuts
- 1/2 c. toasted almonds
- In saucepan, saute mushrooms and onions in butter or margarine.
- Add flour and cook until smooth.
- In double boiler, heat milk and light cream to warm, but not boiling.
- Add mushrooms and onions and stir constantly.
- Add sharp cheese, Tabasco sauce, soy sauce, salt, pepper and monosodium glutamate. Simmer until cheese is melted.
