Cream Puffs
- 1 c. water
- 1/2 c. butter or margarine
- 1/2 tsp. salt (if using salted butter or margarine, omit salt)
- 1 c. flour, sifted (all-purpose)
- 4 eggs (unbeaten)
- 1 pkg. vanilla or chocolate pudding and pie filling mix
- 1/2 c. heavy whipping cream
- 1 (6 oz.) pkg. semi-sweet chocolate pieces
- 2 Tbsp. shortening
- Preheat oven to 400u0b0.
- In large saucepan, combine water with butter and salt.
- Heat over medium heat, until butter melts and water boils.
- Turn heat low; add flour all at once and beat mixture thoroughly with a wooden spoon until it leaves the sides of the pan in a smooth compact ball.
- Immediately remove pan from heat.
- With a wooden spoon or portable mixer at medium speed, beat in eggs, one at a time, beating until smooth after each egg.
- When all eggs are blended, beat dough until very smooth and satiny.
