Purple Plum Cake Cobbler

  1. Drain plums; save syrup.
  2. Pit plums and arrange, skin side down, in a 12 x 8 x 2-inch baking dish.
  3. Mix 3/4 cup sugar and cornstarch in a pan; add reserved syrup.
  4. Cook, stirring, until thickened.
  5. Pour over plums.
  6. Cream the oleo.
  7. Add 2/3 cup sugar; beat until light.
  8. Add egg, beaten well.
  9. Mix dry ingredients together; add alternately with milk to first mixture, beating until smooth.
  10. Spread over plums and bake at 375u0b0 for about 30 minutes.
  11. Serve warm with whipped cream.
