Crab Apple Steel-Cut Oatmeal
- 1 cup steel-cut oats
- 4 cups water
- Pinch salt
- 1 banana, mashed or thinly sliced
- 4-5 crab apples, cored and medium dice
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground clove
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1/4 teaspoon allspice
- 1/2 cup raisins and/or goji berries
- 1/2 cup chopped pecans or whole pumpkin seeds
- grass fed milk or almond milk, to serve
- Bring water, oats and salt to a boil in a covered medium-sized saucepan. Once to a boil, uncover and cook at boiling for about 2 minutes and then turn heat to low.
- Add the crab apples apples and banana. Cook for 15 minutes, then add spices and raisins.rnrnCook another 10 minutes, or until oats are cooked and most of the water is absorbed. Turn off the heat and stir in nuts.
- Serve with milk or almond milk and enjoy warm.
