Sweet Sour Spareribs
- 3 lb. pork spareribs
- 1/3 c. flour
- 1/3 c. soy sauce
- 3/4 c. vinegar
- 1 c. water
- 1/2 c. brown sugar, packed
- 1 Tbsp. salt
- 1 clove garlic
- 1-inch ginger root
- dash of Five spices
- 1 egg
- 1 c. nonfat plain yogurt
- 1 Tbsp. butter
- 1 Tbsp. maple syrup
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 1 c. whole wheat pastry flour
- 1 tsp. baking powder
- 3/4 tsp. salt (or less)
- 1/2 tsp. baking soda
- nutmeg (optional)
- Beat together egg, yogurt, butter, maple syrup and vanilla. Add and whisk until just blended the pastry flour, baking powder, salt, baking soda and nutmeg.
- Add nonfat milk to achieve desired consistency.
- Use a nonstick griddle, if possible.
- Serves two (with one leftover!).
