Angel Crisps
- 1/2 C. butter
- 1/2 C. shortening
- 1/2 C. brown sugar, packed
- 1/2 C. white sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 tsp. vanilla extract
- 1 tsp. cream of tartar
- 1 tsp. baking soda
- 2 C. all purpose flour
- 1/2 tsp. vanilla
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/2 C. white sugar for decoration
- 1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
- 2. In a large bowl, cream together butter, shortening, brown sugar, and 1/2 C. white slugar until smooth. Beat in the egg, and stir in the vanilla. Combine the flour, cream of tartar, baking soda and salt; beat ilnto the creamed mixture.
- 3. Roll dough into 1 inch balls. Dip the top half of the balls into water, then into remaining white sugar. Place sugar side up onto ungreased cookie sheets. Flatten slightly with a fork.
- 4. Bake for 10-12 min. in preheated oven, or until light brown. Cook on wire racks, and store in an airtight container. Bake 350 degrees 10-12 min.
