Ma Kaylor'S Angel Food Cake

  1. Measure and sift flour and sugar together three times.
  2. Measure egg whites and remaining ingredients into a large bowl.
  3. Beat until frothy.
  4. Add gradually 2 tablespoons at a time, 3/4 cup sugar. Beat about 10 seconds after each addition.
  5. Continue beating until stiff peaks are formed.
  6. Sift about 3 tablespoons flour over meringue and fold in.
  7. Repeat until all flour is folded in. Mixture will be thick.
  8. Place ungreased tube pan.
  9. Cut batter with a knife to remove air and level top until even.
  10. Bake at 375u0b0 for 30 to 35 minutes.
  11. Immediately turn pan upside-down over a bottle and cool.
  12. Loosen with spatula.
