Homemade Fondant

  1. Mix marshmallows, chocolate, butter, and milk in a medium microwave safe bowl.
  2. Microwave on high until marshmallows start to puff and melt, about 1 minute. Stir until smooth.
  3. Add vanilla or other flavor.
  4. Mix in 1 1 /2 cups powdered sugar.
  5. Sprinkle 1/2 c powdered sugar on work surface. Place marshmallow mixture on work surface and start kneading. Sprinkle with more powdered sugar as needed. Knead until smooth and not sticky, about 10 minutes.
  6. To color, knead in paste food coloring. Wearing gloves is recommended.
  7. Use immediately.
  8. A silicone mat is recommended for rolling. Roll 1/8" thick to cover a whole cake.
  9. To store, wrap in plastic wrap and then in a ziploc bag, at room temperature up to 2 months.
