Meemaw’S Holiday Dressing

  1. In a saute pan melt butter over medium heat.
  2. Saute onions until clear.
  3. Crumble sausage into onions and brown.
  4. Add remaining butter and melt into the sausage.
  5. Remove pan and let cool enough to handle it.
  6. Add sausage and onions to to stuffing mix.
  7. Add enough chicken broth to just make the stuffing wet.
  8. Add salt & pepper.
  9. With clean hands start mixing it all together.
  10. With clean hands start mixing it all together. Slowly add in the rubbed sage a little at a time. Keep adding sage until you can easily smell the sage when you sniff the mixture. Then stop adding sage.
  11. Add egg, and continue mixing into the stuffing.
  12. Put entire mixture into a glass dish and bake until stuffing gets a bit of a crust (about 1 hour).
