Marshmallow Squares

  1. Add 2 tablespoons water to plain gelatine.
  2. Stir to dissolve. Add granulated sugar, Karo and hot water.
  3. Boil this until it spins a thread.
  4. In large bowl have ready 3 well beaten egg whites and vanilla.
  5. Add cooked mixture slowly, beating constantly.
  6. Takes about 30 minutes.
  7. Have ready a 9 x 12-inch cake pan lined with wax paper, leaving a couple of inches up sides.
  8. Sprinkle with powdered sugar.
  9. Pour mixture into pan.
  10. Wait until firm, about 3 hours. Cut into squares.
  11. Dip each square into melted chocolate and place on wax paper to cool.
  12. I use toothpicks to dip squares into chocolate.
  13. I triple the recipe and freeze them.
  14. I use a big cookie sheet instead of a cake pan.
