Marshmallow Squares
- 3 pkg. plain Knox gelatine
- 2 Tbsp. water
- 2 c. granulated sugar
- 1/4 c. Karo syrup
- 1/2 c. hot water
- 3 egg whites, well beaten
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- powdered sugar
- melted chocolate
- Add 2 tablespoons water to plain gelatine.
- Stir to dissolve. Add granulated sugar, Karo and hot water.
- Boil this until it spins a thread.
- In large bowl have ready 3 well beaten egg whites and vanilla.
- Add cooked mixture slowly, beating constantly.
- Takes about 30 minutes.
- Have ready a 9 x 12-inch cake pan lined with wax paper, leaving a couple of inches up sides.
- Sprinkle with powdered sugar.
- Pour mixture into pan.
- Wait until firm, about 3 hours. Cut into squares.
- Dip each square into melted chocolate and place on wax paper to cool.
- I use toothpicks to dip squares into chocolate.
- I triple the recipe and freeze them.
- I use a big cookie sheet instead of a cake pan.
